2018 March Madness Round of 64 Top Predictions
March Madness gets underway with the First Four games, which will be played between Tuesday and Wednesday, after which we get into the real fun with the Round of 64. Wagering for all the games in the tournament is sure to be brisk, but who should you wager on in the opening round? We are going to take a look at all 4 of the regions in the bracket and come up with what we believe to be some solid picks for the opening round. We will continue to cover the tournament as much as possible as it progresses, and hopefully, we will help you build up a nice little bankroll before the National Championship Game on April 2.

Those of you who know anything about March Madness are already probably aware that a #1 seed has never lost to a #16 in the opening round. With that in mind, the Virginia Cavaliers are the top pick in this region. #2 Cincinnati would also appear to be a very good bet, as would Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arizona, who I consider being a bit of a dark horse moving forward. There are what look to be a couple of potential upsets in here, with Loyola-Chicago a team to look out for. Texas may also be able to spring the upset on Nevada, so look out for that one.
Xavier is the #1 seed in the West Region and is, therefore, a lock. I really like the North Carolina Tar Heels to go on a deep run in the tournament, so add them to your first-round picks. One of the best finishes of the season was delivered by the Michigan Wolverines, which is why I will be playing them. I also think we might get Missouri at a decent price, so think about putting them on our ticket. As far as an upset pick goes in this region, it might just be Providence who pulls out a big win.
Not only are Villanova the #1 seed in this region, they are also a team that needs to be viewed as a legitimate threat to go all the way. It goes without saying that they will win in the Round of 64, as will Purdue. West Virginia looks like a very good bet, as do the Florida Gators. We have some potential upsets on the schedule here that you might want to consider. Marshall is going to give Wichita State all they can handle, while #10 Butler could see some joy against the Aransas Razorbacks. I usually add a longshot pick to my parlay tickets to up my potential winnings.
The Kansas Jayhawks and Duke Blue Devils are number 1 and 2, respectively, and should have no difficulty moving on in the opening round. Michigan State is a legitimate dark horse pick in the tournament and is therefore on my list of sure first-round bets. I am interested to see what Trae Young and the Oklahoma Sooners bring to the table, which is why I am looking at them as a possible surprise winner in the opening round. The New Mexico State Aggies may also be a solid longshot pick in the Round of 64.
