In the early part of the season, interleague games tend to serve as a nice distraction from the everyday grind of seeing the same teams go head to head on a regular basis. At this time of the season, every game is serious business for the teams involved in the playoff races in both the American and National Leagues. A couple of losses now could derail a great run, while a couple of wins could change the face of the divisional and Wild Card Races. It may only be a 2-game MLB Series here, but both of these games are important to both teams for very different reasons. The defending World Series champions are seeing their lead at the top of the AL West start to dwindle, while the Rockies are pushing ever nearer to the top of the NL West and a potential playoff spot for the second straight year. It’s all to play for here as the champs look to halt a slump, while the Rockies look to continue their assault on first place.

MLB SeriesIt can be argued that the biggest series of the season for the Rockies came this weekend when they played 4 against the Dodgers. The Rockies new that a poor performance in that series may have put a serious dent in their playoff hopes, but after losing the opener, Colorado bounced back to take 3 straight and get with 1 game of the Arizona Diamondbacks at the top of the division. The Rockies split the 2 games with Houston on the road earlier in the season, but they will be looking to take advantage of an Astros team in a bit of a tailspin at the moment. The mistake that the Rockies cannot make is looking ahead to their big 4-game series with the Braves this weekend, a series that could seriously alter the shape of the divisional and Wild Card races in the NL. The Rockies are 32-28 on the road this season and 11-5 in all interleague games.

MLB Series

MLB SeriesIt looked for a while as though the Astros had the AL West well under control, but things have taken a bit of a dramatic turn over the past couple of weeks. From out of nowhere, the Oakland A’s are suddenly on fire, and with the Astros now losing 4 in a row, the lead in the division is down to just 2 games. Perhaps worst of all for Houston, those 4 losses came at the hands of the Mariners, who will now feel that they are back in the division race after going through a slump of their own. Perhaps not so surprising is the fact that those losses came at home, as the Astros have been much better on the road this season. Still, they should be the favorites here, and with a 10-5 interleague record this season, you like their chances of getting something out of these two games.

MLB Series Colorado Rockies Vs Houston Astros, Betting Analysis 3

MLB SeriesWhile both teams would love to take these two games, I think the more likely outcome is a split. I just don’t see the Astros losing 6 in a row at home.
