It’s another big sports weekend on tap, with a host of big events to choose from. There is a little something for everyone over the next few days, while those of you who love to wager on the MLB have a ton of great games to choose from. The division races are really starting to heat up now, with a few surprise teams still holding their own. With so many great series to choose from, narrowing down your selections can be tough. We have scanned all the match-ups this weekend and have selected 4 series that really catch the eye for one reason or another. Listed below are the 4 MLB series to bet this weekend.
— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) May 18, 2018
LA Dodgers Vs Washington Nationals
Both of these teams started the season among the favorites to represent the National League in the World Series, but both got off to very slow starts. The Washington Nationals have recovered nicely, and are now just 2 games back of the Atlanta Braves at the top of the NL East. They have now won 4 in a row and 8 of their last 10. The Dodgers have not been able to recover as of yet, and actually spent some time in the cellar in the West this week. They are 9 games below .500 and 8 games off the pace being set at the top of the division. The Dodgers need some sort of spark to get their season rolling.
Milwaukee Brewers Vs Minnesota Twins
The Milwaukee Brewers had themselves a breakout season in 2017, but the big question coming into this year was whether that momentum would carry over. It certainly seems to have done so, as they are currently just a half-game off the lead in the tightly packed Central Division. The Minnesota Twins are currently sitting 3 games below .500, yet they find themselves just a game and a half out of first in the NL Central. The Twins are really just treading water at the moment, but a series win over the Brewers could perhaps give them a boost.
Cleveland Indians Vs Houston Astros
It seems a little unfair to call a division leader a bit of a disappointment, but that is a label that certainly applies to the Cleveland Indians. Where they no in what is definitely the weakest division in the American League, they would be well off the pace being set by the other division leaders. They are off to Houston this weekend to face an Astros team that appears to have picked up right where they left off last year after winning the World Series. They have a 2 and a half game lead at the top of the West, a lead that they are slowly but surely starting to widen.
Philadelphia Phillies Vs St. Louis Cardinals
The Phillies spent the last few seasons gutting their payroll by trading away high-priced talent for young prospects. It’s a move that is suddenly bearing fruit, as the Phillies sit just a half game out of the lead in the NL East. That they are now also boasting one of the best pitching rotations in the league certainly helps. The Cardinals are also off to a good start this season, sitting 2 games back of the Pirates in the Central Division. This is arguably the best series on the schedule this weekend.
