The MLB calendar for this weekend is, as you would expect, a very busy one, and there are some potentially great series on tap. It’s still very early in the 2018 MLB season, which means that it’s fair to suggest that no team has really quite hit their stride yet. A few of the preseason World Series favorites are off to slow starts, while we also have a few surprise teams doing some great work right now. There are a lot of games to choose from this weekend, but we have taken the time to pick out a few MLB weekend series that jump out to us, so let’s get right to them.

Toronto Blue Jays Vs New York Yankees
The AL East is being bossed by the Boston Red Sox right now, but the surprising Toronto Blue Jays are doing a fine job of stalking the pace. Toronto will head into the Big Apple this weekend to face a Yankees team that is seriously underperforming. This was a team that was supposed to make a big leap forward with the signing of Giancarlo Stanton this season, but the slugger has been poor thus far, bringing out the boo-birds at Yankee Stadium. Things could get even more unpleasant if Toronto continues their winning start to the season.
New York Mets Vs Atlanta Braves
The NL East was supposed to belong to the Washington Nationals this season, but as they struggle to find their feet in the early going, it is the Mets and Braves duking it out for the top spot. The Braves have been a ton of fun to watch in the early going, hammering in 104 runs and basically spraying balls all over the place. They will have a bit of a tougher task against a Mets pitching staff that has been on point thus far. This is certainly one of the more intriguing match-ups of the weekend, with the Braves looking to close the 2-game gap at the top of the division.
Chicago Cubs Vs Colorado Rockies
These two teams were in the postseason last year, and both are expected to be there again at the end of the season. If that is indeed to be the case, the Chicago Cubs are going to need to improve on the .500 ball that they are playing through their opening 16 games. The Colorado Rockies got off to a slow start, but now appear to be putting things together, cutting into the early lead that the Arizona Diamondbacks have built atop the NL West. These are two very good teams not yet playing their best ball, so they will both be looking for a breakout performance in this series.
Washington Nationals Vs LA Dodgers
When the betting odds for potential World Series winners was released prior to the start of the season, these two teams were sitting at or near the top with most bookies. Over the course of a 162-game MLB season, the cream has a way of rising to the top, but at the moment, these two are hitting sour notes. The Dodgers are starting to show some signs of life, and are heading into the weekend on a 4-game winning streak, which is certainly better than the 5-5 record posted by the Nationals over their last 10 games.
