It was an earlier start to the MLB season than usual, making for a fun weekend for those of us who love to wager on baseball. The defending champion Houston Astros came charging out of the gate in a big way, while some of the other favorites to win the World Series got off to a slow start. The first few weeks of the season are probably not going to be indicative as to how things will play out as a whole, which is why now may be the time to bet some of the lesser teams while we wait for the big guns to settle and get into a groove. There are a lot of tasty looking series on tap this week for your MLB betting pleasure, so let’s take a look at what we believe are the best.

Baltimore Orioles Vs Houston Astros
What: Baltimore Orioles Vs Houston Astros
When: Monday, April 2, 2018, 7:00 PM ET
Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX
Pitching Matchup: Chris Tillman vs Charlie Morton
The Line: Houston Astros -1½ -115 | -205 | U 9½ -115
The defending World Series champion Houston Astros came out with guns blazing, taking 3 of 4 from the Texas Rangers and scoring 22 runs along the way. The champs will start this first full week of the MLB season by welcoming in the Baltimore Orioles. If early indications are anything to go by, the Orioles may be in for a long ride, losing 2 of 3 to the Minnesota Twins and managing only 5 total runs in those games. Look for the Astros to continue rolling in this series.
Cleveland Indians Vs LA Angels
What: Cleveland Indians Vs LA Angels
When: Monday, April 2, 2018, 10:07 PM ET
Where: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, CA
TV: ESPN 2
Pitching Matchup: Mike Clevinger vs JC Ramirez
The Line: Cleveland Indians -1½ +140 | -119 | O 8½ +100
The Cleveland Indians came out of the gate slowly last season before putting together a second half that made them one of the favorites to win it all when the postseason began. We all know how that turned out for them. The Indians are off slow again, losing their season series opener to the Seattle Mariners. Things do not get any easier for them this week, as they have to go on the road to face an LA Angels team that looked very good in taking 3 of 4 from the Oakland A’s in their season opener. Cleveland should be back on track this week.
Chicago Cubs Vs Milwaukee Brewers
What: Chicago Cubs Vs Milwaukee Brewers
When: Thursday, April 5, 2018, 8:10 PM ET
Where: Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI
Pitching Matchup: Kyle Hendricks vs Brent Suter
The Line: TBA
The Cubs are the favorites to win the NL Central, but they are off to a bit of a shaky start after splitting a 4-game series with the Miami Marlins, a team expected to struggle this year. The pitching for the Cubs was particularly dodgy in that series, giving up 18 runs in those 4 games. That could mean trouble against a Brewers team that is looking to prove that last year was not a one-off. The Brewers opened strong, sweeping the San Diego Padres in a 3-game series to take a very early lead in the division. This one will be a much stiffer test.
LA Dodgers Vs San Francisco Giants
What: LA Dodgers Vs San Francisco Giants
When: Friday, April 7, 2018, 8:15 PM ET
Where: AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA
Pitching Matchup: Kenta Maeda vs Derek Holland
The Line: TBA
This one is going to be a quick rematch, as it was these same two teams who met in the opening series of the season. The Giants started well, beating the Dodgers 1-0 in the first two games of the season. It was all downhill after that, though, with LA rebounding to win the final two games of the series by a combined score of 14-0. While the Giants will have been happy with a split versus one of the top teams in the MLB, they must be a little concerned about their lack of productivity in that series.
