After what seemed like a ridiculously long offseason, the 2018 MLB season is finally upon us, with a much earlier start than we are used to. It is a jam-packed calendar over the weekend, with some very intriguing series to pay attention to. Rather than focusing on individual games between Friday and Sunday, I am instead going to talk about the best series match-ups as a whole. There is a lot to like here, so be sure to keep checking back in for updated MLB betting lines and odds. For now, though, let’s take a closer look at some of the weekend games that jump right off the page.
A stud with an MO.
An MVP who’s earning his pinstripes.
A phenom with something to prove.

Houston Astros Vs Texas Rangers
What: Houston Astros (1-0) Vs Texas Rangers (0-1)
When: Friday, March 30, 2018, at 8:05 P.M. ET
Where: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, TX
Pitching Matchup: Dallas Keuchel vs Doug Fister
The Line: Houston Astros -1½ -125 | -180 | O9 -110
It’s one of the oldest clichés in sports, but the fact of the matter is that it is incredibly tough to repeat as a champion. The Chicago Cubs had an up and down season last year, appearing to battle a World Series hangover, and the concern is that the same thing may well happen to the Houston Astros this season. The best hangover cure in sports is to hit the ground running at the start of the season, which is what the Astros will be looking to do in their weekend series with the Texas Rangers. A great in-state battle to get things rolling, and one that I like the Astros to win.
Cleveland Indians Vs Seattle Mariners
What: Cleveland Indians (0-1) Vs Seattle Mariners (1-0)
When: Saturday, March 30, 2018, at 4:10 P.M. ET
Where: Safeco Field, Seattle, WA
Pitching Matchup: Carlos Carrasco vs James Paxton
The Line: TBA
No team is coming into this season with more to prove that the Cleveland Indians. They went all the way to the World Series a couple of years ago, losing to the Cubs, and the belief was that they would be back last year. After a great regular season, the Indians crashed and burned in the opening round of the playoffs, so they are coming into 2018 with a massive chip on their shoulder. They will get this season rolling with a weekend series against the Mariners, which is one I think they will dominate.
San Francisco Giants Vs LA Dodgers
What: San Francisco Giants (1-0) Vs Los Angeles Dodgers (0-1)
When: Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 9:10 P.M. ET
Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Pitching Matchup: Derek Holland vs Kenta Maeda
The Line: TBA
Three teams made it out of the NL West last season, but the Giants were not included in that group. They will be looking to bounce back this year, but they have some legitimate injury concerns to start the season, with ace pitcher Madison Bumgarner on the shelf. The Giants have a tough start to their season, going on the road to face an LA Dodgers teams that made it all the way to the World Series last year. This is the start of a redemption season for the Dodgers and I think they get it started on a very positive note versus the Giants.
Colorado Rockies Vs Arizona Diamondbacks
What: Colorado Rockies (0-1) Vs Arizona Diamondbacks (1-0)
When: Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 8:10 P.M. ET
Where: Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ
Pitching Matchup: German Marquez vs Zack Greinke
The Line: TBA
While both teams finished behind the Dodgers in the NL West last year, they also both made it to the postseason via the Wild Card. I’m not so sure they will both be there this season, which is why this early series might go a long way towards setting the tone for the rest of the year. I have the Colorado Rockies in as my dark horse pick this season, and while they need to go on the road to get things started, I think they will have a solid series against the D-Backs. This should be a fun series to watch, so be sure to tune in and wager.
