What: Golden State (66-26) at Houston (73-19)

Where: Toyota Center – TX, Houston, TX
NBA Odds: Houston Rockets -1½ -110 | -125 | U 224½ -110
The Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs in five games while recording three double-digit wins, including a 21-point win in Game 1. The Dubs then dispatched New Orleans in five games as well while recording three more double-digit wins and two victories of more than 20 points. Right now, the Dubs have the look of a team that is extremely focused on dealing with injuries and struggling down the stretch run of the regular season.
Houston took out an overmatched Minnesota squad in five games in the first round by recording three double-digit wins of 18, 19 and 20 points while also beating Utah in the second round in five games, although it was clearly a bit more difficult. The Rockets lost Game 2 at home and never recorded a 20-point win in the series despite advancing in relatively ‘easy’ fashion.
Houston also beat Golden State in two of their three regular-season meetings this season and I expect them to be very focused in Game 1 in front of their home fans. However, I’m also of the mindset that Golden State is going to want to come out and deliver a message to the Rockets right off the bat.
Not only that, but Golden State is the better offensive team in ranking a phenomenal first across the board offensively while Houston ranks just 15th in field goal percentage shooting (46.0%) and 16th in three-point percentage shooting (36.2 %). Defensively, the Warriors forced their opponents into a dismal 44.7 percent shooting mark (third) while Houston allowed their opponents to shoot 46.2 percent from the field (16th).
Houston relies on a lot of isolation ball to get their offensive production while Golden State passes the ball better than almost any team in the league despite having four legitimate all-stars.
Yes, the Rockets are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning straight up record, but the Warriors are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Conference Finals games, 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Houston and 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings against the Rockets overall.
The Road team in this series is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and I believe the defending champs are just waiting to deliver a statement-making message. Golden State gets the stunning win in Game 1 to take n=home-court advantage from the Rockets!
Pick: Golden State +1½ -110 | +105 | O 224½ -110
