Detroit Pistons vs Toronto Raptors
Wednesday, January 17th, 6:30 pm

With the Cleveland Cavaliers in the midst of a troubling slump, we are looking at a potential changing of the guard in the Eastern Conference, at least in the regular season. One team that is trying to stake their claim on the top spot in the East is the Toronto Raptors, who are 3.5 games out of the top spot. They are not helping their cause, though, and are coming into this one with back to back losses in their last two. This game against the Pistons may be another tricky one, as Detroit are clinging to the final playoff spot in the conference. They have also lost their last two, so both teams need a win here.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Houston Rockets
Thursday, January 18th, 8:30 pm

The Houston Rockets started this season on fire, but they have cooled down a little with James Harden on the sidelines (Although, Harden is expected to come back for this game against the Timberwolves). They are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and will be going against a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has been playing very good ball of late, and that is having an impressive 7-3 run in their last 10 games. It’s the #2 team in the Western Conference going against the #4, which is why this one needs to be considered essential viewing.

San Antonio Spurs vs Toronto Raptors
Friday, January 19th, 6:00 pm

I usually try to avoid talking about the same team twice when putting together the top games of the week pieces, but the Toronto Raptors have a tough schedule ahead of them this week. We already covered their game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, but things get even tougher on Friday night when they welcome the San Antonio Spurs to town. The Spurs are once again consistent this season, sitting in 3rd in the Western Conference, although they are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, so they are there for the taking right now.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Cleveland Cavaliers
Saturday, January 20th, 2:30 pm

The Oklahoma Thunder are in the middle of the pack in the Western Conference playoff standings, and while they have not been great of late, they are on a modest 2 game win streak. Their current issues are nothing compared to what is going on in Cleveland right now, with the Cavaliers currently in a slump that has seen them lose 4 games in a row. The good news for the Cavs is that they have been a much better team at home than on the road, so getting back to their own building may be good for them.
