NFL Reviewing the Draft Results and how it can impact your betting options
The 2018 NFL Draft is officially in the books, which means that the countdown to the start of the new football season is ticking a little more loudly. You can look at the draft as a whole and quickly identify which teams were the winners and which were the losers. History has shown us, though, that many players considered to be a “can’t miss” actually end up missing by a wide margin. There are also players from the later rounds – Tom Brady, Hines Ward, etc. – who end up being future Hall of Fame prospects. For now, though, all we can do is take the 2018 NFL Draft at face value and see how it might impact your betting options for this season.
Five players that landed in the perfect place …

Potential Division Winners
There are a couple of divisions that might be in for a bit of a shake-up this year, with the AFC North looking to be the most likely. It is the Pittsburgh Steelers who have ruled that roost for quite some time now, but both the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns had exceptional draft days. The Ravens should contend, but until the Browns can get out of their losing funk, they still need to be considered a question mark. In Baker Mayfield, though, I believe they have a legitimate NFL QB starter for years to come. The NFC East may also become a little more competitive, as both the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys look to have improved with their draft picks. They still have some way to go to catch up the Philadelphia Eagles, though.
Wins and Losses
At some point in the very near future, the bookies are going to release the win totals for all 32 teams in the NFL. Studying the draft and the impact that the new players will have on their new teams will help you crush the OVER/UNDER in this category. How many players are actually ready to step in and make a big impact in 2018, and how many look like a potential bust? If you can figure that out, you can really make a mark in the win totals wagers. There are obviously going to be other factors to consider, but a team that has 2 or 3 new players over or underachieving could have a big impact on their win total.
Rookie of the Year
Okay, so if we are to look at the Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL, it has been a QB or RB that has won it in 7 of the last 8 years. That certainly narrows your options, but it also makes things a little tougher given that we have a great crop of QB’s entering the NFL this season. If it’s going to be a QB, you would have to consider that Baker Mayfield of the Browns has a great shot. Cleveland has only 1 win in the last 2 seasons. Mayfield only really needs to lead this team to 8 or 9 wins to be considered a major difference maker. The Browns always make me a little nervous, though, which is why I am looking at Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants. That young man has all the ingredients to be a dominant running back in this league, starting in year one.
