It’s always a little sad when the final week of the NFL regular season rolls around, but we still at least have the excitement of the playoffs to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Despite it being the final full weekend, we are full steam ahead of making some picks for what is a very busy calendar on Sunday. What better way to celebrate the final day of 2017 than by cashing out some winning tickets before the clock strikes midnight? Let’s get into this weekend’s action by making some SU and ATS picks that we hope will put a little extra money in your pockets.
New York Jets (+15) vs New England Patriots
Location: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Line: Patriots -15.5
This is a game that the Patriots should win without too much of a problem, but you need to wonder at which point they will start to shut down their big guns. If the Pats get up early in this one, we could well be treated to a whole slew of back-ups in the second half, which could end up making this one a little closer than the point spread suggests it will be. I can certainly see New England winning by 10 points, but I think that 15 might be a stretch if they so start sitting guys down.
Predicted Score: New York Jets 21 New England Patriots 31
Detroit Lions (-280) vs Green Bay Packers
Location: Ford Field, Detroit, MI.
Kickoff: 1 p.m. Sunday.
Line: Detroit -280
TV: Fox (Channel 2 in Detroit).
The Packers saw their playoff hopes officially come to an end a couple of weeks ago with a loss to Carolina, but the reality was that it was essentially over when Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone earlier this year. The offense has been ineffective without him in the line-up, and was well and truly shut down by the Vikings last weekend. The Lions are also out of the playoffs, but if this game comes down to nothing more than Matthew Stafford versus Brett Hundley, then I am all in on Stafford and the Lions.
Predicted Score: Detroit Lions 27 Green Bay Packers 17
Houston Texans vs Indianapolis Colts (-5 ½)
Location: Lucas Oil Stadium — Indianapolis, IN
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Line: Colts -5.5
It’s a clash of two of the worst teams in the league this weekend, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make some money on this one. The Texans season fell apart when DeShaun Watson went out injured for the season, and the offense has been brutal ever since. They have only managed to put up 13 total points in their last 2 games, and while they may have more success against Houston, it’s still not going to be pretty. The Colts put up a decent fight against the Baltimore Ravens last weekend, and a similar performance should get them the win and the cover here.
Predicted Score: Houston Texans 16 Indianapolis Colts 24
Kansas City Chiefs (+155) vs Denver Broncos
Location: Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver
Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET
Line: Broncos -3.5
Let’s close out the picks for the 2017 NFL regular season with a bit of an upset pick. The Chiefs started this season as one of the best teams in the league, and while the middle portion of the year was a nightmare, they have closed out well and have clinched a playoff berth. The Broncos have won two of their last 3, but both of those victories came against teams with losing records. This has all the makings of a tight defensive struggle, but I think KC can head into Denver and come away with the win.
Predicted Score: Kansas City Chiefs 21 Denver Broncos 17
