NFL Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Betting Odds
After lighting up their unsuspecting Week 1 opponent, Ryan Fitzpatrick will look to make some more ‘magic’ happen when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in what is suddenly an intriguing Week 2 matchup.
If you’re looking for to find out which team is offering the best betting value in this matchup, let’s get to my expert NFL pick right now.

🏈: Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
⏰: Sun. Sep 16, 2018 1:00 PM ET
🏟️: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
🎰: Philadelphia Eagles -3 -125 | -170 | ) 44 -110
The Eagles got past Atlanta 18-12 in a hard-fought regular-season opener that saw veteran quarterback Nick Foles go 19 of 34 for 117 yards with one interception and no touchdowns. Running back Jay Ajayi rushed 15 times for 62 yards and two scores to lead the way to victory. Philly’s defense shut down Matt Ryan and Atlanta’s offense when it mattered most and stopped gifted wide receiver Julio Jones from catching what would have been a game-winning TD pass for the second straight meetings.
“It was deja vu,” said cornerback Ronald Darby, who covered Jones on the last play this time around instead of Jalen Mills. “Jones is one of the best but we got the stop.”
The Eagles held the Falcons to just 74 rushing yards and sacked Matt Ryan three times.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers ‘opened up a can’ on New Orleans in their stunning 48-40 season-opening road win over their longtime NFC South division rivals as veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 417 yards with four TD passes and no picks while adding a rushing score in the win. The journeyman signal-caller tossed two TD passes of at least 50 yards.
“I’m happy to announce: FitzMagic is alive and well,” Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said of Fitzpatrick who was starting for suspended 2015 first-overall draft choice Jameis Winston. “Quite a start, huh?”
Veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson had five catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns while fellow wideout Mike Evans had seven catches for 147 yards and one score.
“The talent level in that huddle, with guys that can go up and make plays, it’s a pretty special group,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’m glad we showed it today, but now it’s about consistency.”
Expert Pick and Prediction
I know the Buccaneers absolutely exploded on New Orleans in their regular season opener, but Philadelphia has an excellent defense that I am expecting to force Fitzpatrick into at least one costly turnover, if not two. In addition to that, I’m also expecting Philadelphia’s offense to get better with each passing week, after struggling throughout the preseason and for long stretches of their regular season opener.
The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS win, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games against their NFC counterparts and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a straight up win.
While the Buccaneers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, Tampa Bay is also just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games against a team with a winning road record while the road team in this series has gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. The Eagles win and cover, although I’m expecting the Buccaneers to put up a really good effort.
Predicted Score: Eagles 27 Buccaneers 21
