Mitch Trubisky and the Chicago Bears will look to rebound from their crushing collapse late in their regular season opener to beat Russell Wilson and the visiting Seattle Seahawks when the two playoff hopefuls meet at Soldier Field on Sunday. With Seattle also looking to record their first win of the season after dropping their opener, let’s find out which team is offering the best betting value in this Week 2 matchup.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle had chances to win their regular season opener in Denver, but the Broncos got a great defensive effort from linebacker Von Miller to pick up a hard-fought 27-24 win over the Seahawks. Russell Wilson went 19 of 33 for 298 yards with three touchdowns, but he also tossed two costly interceptions. Wilson was sacked three times by Miller and Seattle’s problems rushing the ball continued with the Seahawks getting held to just 64 rushing yards in the loss.

“We played a really tough defense, one of the best defenses you’re going to face all year. Obviously, Von is a great player and he made some key plays,” Wilson said.

Chicago Bears

Chicago jumped all over Green Bay en route to a commanding 17-0 halftime lead over the Packers. After extending that lead to 20-0 just after the start of the second half, the Bears fell completely apart in allowing Aaron Rodgers to return from a first half knee injury to throw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes en route to a stunning 24-23 road loss.

Chicago got a great performance out of newly acquired Pro Bowl linebacker Khalil Mack who had one sack, one tackle for a loss and a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown.

“I prepared all offseason for the first game of the season and I wanted to … make an impact,” Mack said. “But you want to win these games. That’s the only thing on my mind. I hate losing.”

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was 23 of 35 for 171 yards. He also ran for 32 yards and one score on seven carries while running back Jordan Howard rushed 15 times for 82 yards.

Expert Pick and Prediction

While Seattle hasn’t looked very good at all either in the preseason or their regular season opener, I’m thinking Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are the pick to pick up a hard-fought win over the revamped Bears.

I like Chicago’s hiring of former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as their head coach and I could clearly see his impact early on against the Packers. However, I also believe that this is a game that Russell Wilson and the Seahawks should win based mostly on their edge in experience and at the quarterback position. While Chicago’s Mitch Trubisky has the look of a fine young player, right now, he’s nowhere the same caliber of signal-caller as Russell Wilson. Seattle has gone 4-1-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 10-3-2 ATS in their last 15 games following an SU loss.

The Bears are an uninspiring 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against their NFC counterparts and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games in the month of September. Seattle has also gone 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings against Chicago and I believe they’ll get the outright road win to cover the chalk as Russell Wilson largely avoids Khalil Mack and puts on an MVP-caliber performance.

Predicted Score: Seahawks 31 Bears 27
