NHL Betting – Can Desperate Tampa Bay Get Road Upset At High-Flying Washington in Game 3
Now down 0-2 after dropping the first two games of their Eastern Conference Finals matchup against Washington at home no less, the top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning will be completely desperate to avoid falling into a 0-3 hole when they hit the road to take on the Caps in game 3 on Tuesday night. So, for this NHL Betting matchup, let’s find out if the Lightning can avoid what would be a crushing loss in Game 3.

What: Tampa Bay (62-27-5) at Washington (59-28-4)
When: Tuesday, May 15, 2018at 8:00 PM ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, District of Columbia
The Line: Washington Capitals -1½ +220 | -130 | U6 -110
First, Tampa Bay got beat 4-2 in Game 1 on Friday and then they got smacked around even worse in their stunning 6-2 home loss on Sunday.
The Capitals scored in the opening minute of the game and twice in the last 1:02 of the second period to put the Lightning away as veteran all-star Alex Ovechkin scored for the second time in as many games while adding an assist.
“It’s huge but it’s not over yet,” Ovechkin said. “We played hard and played smart. You can see all four lines doing their job.”
Evgeny Kuznetsov and Lars Eller each had a goal and two assists and Tom Wilson had a goal and an assist in the win. Now, the top-seeded Lightning will have to overcome the fact that teams that take a 2-0 lead in the conference final or semifinal have a series record of 39-2 (95.1 percent).
“We didn’t panic. Just stayed to the system and played the right way,” Ovechkin said. “We stayed calm and waited for our opportunities.”
After beating the snot out of both, New Jersey and Boston in the first two rounds, the Lightning is now in desperation mode.
“We’ve just played tentative and a little bit slow. We didn’t get 113 points by playing that way. We didn’t win the first two rounds by playing that way,” Cooper added. “For some reason for two games, that’s the way we’ve played.”
Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos had early power-play goals for Tampa Bay after Wilson’s goal 28 seconds into the game, but the Lightning couldn’t muster up anything at all from that point on.
I’ll admit that I didn’t see it coming, but now, my eyes have been opened and it’s clear that Washington is on an absolute mission! Washington has gone 5-0 in their last five games after allowing two goals or less in their previous game while also going 35-16 in their previous 51 home games against the Lightning. With the Home team in this rivalry going 20-9 in the last 29 meetings, the Caps are the easy pick to win and take a commanding 3-0 series lead!
Pick: Washington 5 Tampa Bay 3
