Washington Capitals Vs Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Playoffs Game 6 Information
The conference finals in the NHL are right around the corner, and there are a few teams coming into this week with the opportunity to punch their ticket into the final four. That also means that there are several teams on the brink of elimination, which includes the 2-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. They have their back to the wall after losing Game 5 in Washington to go down 3-2 in the series. The good news is that they get to head back home with a shot at tying things up and taking this series all the way to 7 games. You don’t get to win the Stanley Cup as often as the Penguins have without facing some adversity along the way, so this is a team that should certainly not be counted out yet. The question now is whether the Capitals can actually make it out of the second round now that they have the ideal opportunity to do so. They may be in the lead in the series for this NHL Playoffs, but they are still shouldering a ton of pressure.

Why bet on the Washington Capitals
This is the opportunity that Washington Capitals have been waiting years for. They have made a habit of dominating in the regular season, only to fall apart when the playoffs come around. They made tough work of the opening round against Columbus, losing their opening two home games before rebounding to win the series. They now have the defending champions, a team that has eliminated them with stunning regularity in the postseason, on the ropes, yet questions still remain about the playoff fragility of this team. They made a nervous start to Game 5, going down a goal early and looking as though they were going to be swamped, but 2 quick goals turned the tide, with the Caps going on to win 6-3. The offense has come alive, and this now looks like a legitimate Stanley Cup contender, assuming they can close this series out.
Why bet on the Pittsburgh Penguins
You need to go back to 2016 to find the last time that the Penguins faced elimination in Game 6. That came against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Pens were able to take it up a notch and bail themselves out on the way to a Stanley Cup. What this tells us is that the Penguins are not used to being in this position on a very regular basis, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they handle this scenario. The reality is that Game 5 was there for the taking, as they finally got all their offensive lines rolling, and but form some brilliance from Braden Holtby in the early going, we could have been looking at a blowout for the Penguins. There were some defensive errors made, though, and those will need to vanish if the champs are to stay alive on Monday night.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I think it’s fair to suggest that the champions are not going to go down without a fight, and given how unfortunate they were in Game 5, I think this series is going all the way.
Predicted Score: Washington Capitals 2 Pittsburgh Penguins 4
