FIFA World Cup: Iran Vs Portugal Betting Analysis & Prediction
Group B is not exactly shaping up the way we thought it would after the draw was initially made. Yes, Portugal and Spain are sitting on top, but we are going to need to wait until the final whistle in their respective games on Monday to see if they both stay there. As it stands right now, those two are on the same points with the exact same goal difference. If both teams end up winning by the same result on Monday, we will be looking at a coin toss to decide who gets the top spot. Given how surprising this FIFA World Cup has been so far, would it really be out of the question to see a coin flip decide this group? Portugal can put that notion to rest by putting in a good performance against Iran in their final game, with Cristiano Ronaldo out looking to add to the 4 goals that he has already scored in the first two games. Iran will be out to pull off the shock result, though, as a win here would see them move on to the next round.

Why bet on Portugal
Which Portugal team is going to show up for this one? Will it be the team that looked like an attacking force in their 3-3 tie with Spain in the opener, or will it be the one that was forced to grind out a 1-0 win against Morocco last time out? It’s tough to know for sure, but one thing that we do know is that Portugal will go as far as Cristiano Ronaldo can carry them. In the two games that Portugal have played to this point, they have scored 4 times, and it is CR7 who has accounted for all 4. While is it certainly great to have a player of that quality in your team, what happens if and when he gets shut down? Portugal are certainly the favorites to win here and move on to the next round, but are we finally going to see someone else on this team stand up and make some sort of statement?
Why bet on Iran
Iran still have a legitimate shot at getting out of Group B and into the knockout stage, and it may be fair to suggest that the pressure on them is a lot less than what Portugal are feeling. After all, no-one gave Iran a shot at getting into the next round, so they are essentially playing with house money right now. Iran have been defensively sound through their opening two games, soaking up the pressure against Morocco in the opener before sucker punching them with a winner in injury time. They held Spain to just 1 goal and came within an inch of getting a point. That was essentially the margin of error in their tying goal that was finally ruled offside through the VAR system.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
Iran are going to need to open up a little more here, especially since a draw does them no good if Spain go out and beat Morocco. That could leave them exposed at the back, where Portugal can hit them hard.
Predicted Score: Portugal 2 Iran 0
