When the draw is made, and the schedule released for the FIFA World Cup, it is totally natural to go ahead and circle all the potentially huge games on the calendar. After all, with so many games on the go over the course of the tournament, it can be tough to be able to tune into them all. It is very often the games featuring a pair of lesser lights in the world game that fails to make the cut, but history has shown us that it is very often those match-ups that prove to be among the best in the tournament. You also need to consider that when these types of teams go head to head in the group stage, it may be their only shot at getting points and earning some degree of respectability. Group B looks set to deliver, on paper at least, an interesting match-up on Friday, with Morocco and Iran set to go head to head to head. When you consider that Spain and Portugal are the other two teams in this group, you get an idea of why these two might go all-out looking for 3 points.

Why bet on Morocco
Morocco were rather impressive on their road to the World Cup, dominating their final qualifying group and failing to yield a goal over 6 games. Itâs not necessarily that they are the best defensive team in the world, but more that they have become very adept at controlling the game via possession. They usually play with 5 in the midfield and a lone striker up front, a tactic that has proven to be very effective for them. It has certainly worked well in the lead up to this tournament, as they have won 4 and drawn 1 of the 5 games that they have played in preparation for the World Cup, outscoring the opposition 9-3 in that run. Yes, they may be tight at the back, but those numbers suggest that they also have a nose for goal.
Why bet on Iran
If any team needs to make amends for the way they played at the least World Cup, it is Iran. They made no fans with their ultra-defensive style of football in Brazil, but I think they might be a little different here in Russia. That said, this is a team that set a new record for consecutive shutouts during the qualification phase, holding their opponents scoreless in 12 straight games. Itâs a ridiculous record and one which proves they are not going to be an easy out at this tournament. As tight as they are on the defensive side of the field, this is also a team with some good attacking options, so I do not expect them to sit back and soak up the pressure, at least not in this game.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
While the defensive stats of these two would suggest a dull, low-scoring affair, I think we are going to get the opposite. I think they will both come out and have a real go, and I have Iran coming out on top.
Predicted Score: Morocco 1 Iran 2
